Can anyone learn to enjoy running?

Yes – you just need the right motivation.  I HATED running throughout my military career, and avoided it at all costs.  Then one day I woke up, in my mid-40's, 60-70 lbs over my ideal weight, and I realized that I wasn't going to make it much further if I didn't do something about it.  I lost a bunch of weight by diet alone, and when that plateaued, I added exercise, starting with walking, then adding running.  It's now about 18 months since I started exercising, and I've run about 2500 km, and a bunch of races, from 5 mile up to a marathon.  Now, even on a rest day, I feel like the day is incomplete if I don't have a run.  You can learn to love it, if you have the right motivation.

Can anyone learn to enjoy running?
